Support & Resources
For those looking for support & resources, here a few organizations & what they offer:
Breastcancer.org — provides info & creates a community for patients who need more information and/or support than a doctor’s visit could provide. Breastcancer.org has the world’s largest breast cancer community! If you need some support, this may be a good place to find it! I’ve also heard of various Facebook groups meant to achieve the same thing!
Living Beyond Breast Cancer — a national nonprofit that connects people with a community of support. Living Beyond Breast Cancer’s Breast Cancer Helpline connects patients in need with trained volunteers for emotional support, guidance, and hope. Patients can be matched with trained volunteers with similar breast cancer experiences based on type, stage, age, or area of concern. Love this!
National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) — inspiring those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education, and support services. NBCF has provided over a million free mammograms, early detection, and patient navigation services to uninsured patients and those in need of financial assistance.
Lastly, call your local hospital and ask to speak to a social worker. They’re connected to various financial support programs and can offer beneficial advice and help!
